A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of visiting the Hacker Kitchens in-house exhibition in Rödinghausen, Germany. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our German kitchen manufacturer, discover their latest innovations and gather inspiration to bring back to our clients here in Shenfield and beyond.
Having worked with Hacker Kitchens for over 20 years, we have developed extensive knowledge of the brand, its furniture and the quality behind its designs. However, there is always something new to discover, and these visits allow us to refresh our knowledge, explore emerging trends and see first-hand how kitchen design continues to evolve.
Discovering New Colours, Finishes and Materials
One of the highlights of our visit was exploring the latest additions to Hacker’s extensive collection. We discovered exciting new colour options, contemporary door finishes and innovative laminate worktops that beautifully replicate the appearance and texture of natural stone.
These developments offer even more possibilities when creating a kitchen, allowing us to combine different materials, textures and finishes to achieve a design that feels individual to each client.
We also had the opportunity to meet fellow designers and exchange ideas, gaining a wider perspective on how kitchen trends are developing across the UK and how these can be incorporated into projects in the Shenfield area.
Kitchen Trends for 2026 and Beyond: The Beauty of Wood
One of the strongest trends we have noticed emerging throughout 2026, and one we expect to continue into 2027, is the growing popularity of wood-effect kitchens.
Previously, wood finishes were often introduced as an accent, perhaps through an island, open shelving or a feature cabinet. Now, we are seeing wood textures take centre stage, extending across entire kitchens to create a more cohesive and immersive look.
Wood brings warmth, depth and a natural quality to an interior, helping to soften the clean lines of contemporary cabinetry. Whether paired with complementary neutral tones, contrasting worktops or understated hardware, wood-effect finishes create a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a sophisticated, modern aesthetic.
With the variety of finishes now available, there are options to suit both contemporary and more traditional interiors, making this an incredibly versatile trend.
The Finishing Touches: Glass Cabinetry and Integrated Lighting
Another exciting development we discovered was the introduction of new concealed hinge systems for glass-fronted cabinets.
Although seemingly a small detail, these refined hinges create a cleaner, more seamless appearance, enhancing the overall quality and sophistication of the cabinetry.
When paired with carefully integrated LED lighting, glass cabinets become a real feature within the kitchen. Lighting highlights the contents, adds depth and atmosphere, and creates an additional layer of visual interest, particularly during the evening.
These thoughtful details demonstrate how the smallest design decisions can make a significant difference to the finished space.
